Anatoliy Tmanov, Central and Eastern Europe Coordinator

Dr. Anatoliy Tmanov joined the Office of International Programs in August 2001 and has been working on the development, facilitation, and implementation of international programs and opportunities with the Central and Eastern European countries.

Dr. Tmanov currently coordinates and is actively involved with several international projects in Central and Eastern Europe, such as the National Security Education Program (NSEP) in Russia and Ukraine and the Newly Independent States College University Partnership Program (NISCUPP) between the Penn State's College of Agricultural Sciences and Lviv State Agricultural University. He travels often to Russia and Ukraine to conduct seminars and conferences and hosts American faculty as well as international students on short- and long-term study abroad tours.

Establishment of new partnerships and collaborative projects between the American and Central and Eastern European universities is the one of his goals in promoting mutual understanding among different cultures and appreciation of the world's diversity.

Dr. Tmanov received his Ph.D. in agricultural and extension education from Penn State and graduated with distinction from Kamyanets-Podilsky Agroengineering Academy (Ukraine) with a doctor of veterinary medicine degree. He is an assistant professor of international agriculture in the Department of Agricultural and Extension Education and teaches a few international agriculture courses for undergraduate and graduate students in the College of Agricultural Sciences.

A native Ukrainian, Anatoliy Tmanov speaks fluent English, Russian, Ukrainian, and Polish.
