Activities in the Middle East and North Africa

Egypt

In 2002, the college signed an agreement with Cairo University's Faculty of Agriculture to launch a "twinning" program in animal sciences. Starting in fall 2002, students from Egypt spent the first two years in Cairo and in fall 2004 completed the second two years in State College, graduating with a Penn State degree.

Israel

The U.S.-Israel Binational Agricultural Research and Development Fund (BARD) was established in 1978 to promote and support agricultural research and development activities of mutual benefit to the United States and Israel. Since its inception, Penn State faculty have been awarded a total of thirteen grants for about $1 million. In addition, the college's director of international programs previously served on the board of directors of the U.S.-Israel Science and Technology Foundation.
