Penn State International Internship Club
A group of students at Penn State formed a local committee of the International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience (IASTE). This group helps students from colleges of agricultural sciences, engineering, and science find paid international internship opportunities abroad. For information, contact Kevin Hom, president, 2008-2009, or visit the IAESTE Web site.

USDA's Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS)
This is an opportunity for college students to spend a semester abroad working with FAS staff at one of their overseas posts. Students must be U.S. citizens and have completed their sophomore year. Participants receive a salary but must pay their own travel costs. A copy of the brochure that describes the program, eligibility requirements, and application procedures is available at http://www.fas.usda.gov/admin/student/program.asp.

Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS)
Dedicated to providing world leaders with strategic insights on--and policy solutions to--current and emerging global issues, CSIS offers both full and part-time internships in the fall, spring, and summer for undergraduate, advanced students and recent graduates interested in gaining practical experience in public policy at an institution dedicated to analysis and policy impact. Interns may participate in a variety of activities, including research, writing, and organizing meetings and events that support the goals of the program with which they are working. FSD internship programs provide college students, graduates, and professionals with the opportunity to gain practical hands-on experience through internship programs eight weeks and longer with organizations in Latin America and Africa as part of an integrated program that includes a family home stay, orientation and debriefing sessions, grant making, and program support. FSD offers summer and year-round internships in six countries: Bolivia, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Peru, Tanzania, and Uganda. Check the FSD Internship Opportunities Web site for more details on internships.

Fellows are assigned to various development organizations such as Africare, CARE, Save the Children, TechnoServe, Opportunities Industrialization Centers International, Counterpart International, and UNICEF to work on various types of community-based development activities.
